Self-Defence

Gavin started teaching Karate in 2006. He ran a school teaching Combat Martial Arts until he retired in 2016 on doctors orders. He’s taught security guards, doormen and soldiers. Gavin’s Martial Arts journey took a turn when he met Dave Turton. 10th Dan Black belt and the UK’s own oracle when it comes to street combat.
Dave awarded me my 4th Dan Black belt in combat Karate. Still to this day one of my biggest honours. Words cannot explain the work it took to get to that.
Someone asked me a question about martial arts. After an automatic, full, in-depth analysis, delivered in class structure(!) I decided this 20 years of training knowledge was just sat not being used.
I’ve always believed that some form of self defence should be taught to everyone. It’s as important as learning to swim. Sadly, the need has far from diminished.
We will be launching 6 week courses. These are intended to be ongoing, with the goal to improve beyond a very basic level. We will meet you at the level you are at and help you improve from there. How far you want to take it, is down to you.
Do not expect to “learn a move to get you out of anything”. This is more than technique, it’s about mindset, awareness and the psychology of an attacker. It’s about harming someone so that you can escape.
